Hey people its been a while since my last post.
I have had quite a few people ask me exactly what I have done to get my blog looking like this.
And thankyou for all the comments I am really proud of my blog and how it looks today,I put alot of work in but also had a lot of help.
And I know a lot of you want a blog like this so I just wanna make this post for you, so you can get your blog looking how you want it.
My blog was looking like a skoda a few weeks back but now its looking like a Ferrari cool eh!!
So my friends instead of having to explain in seperate emails I have decided to reveal all in a new blog post.
THEME
The first thing I did was to get this fantastic theme CLICK HERE iThemes Home Page
You see most themes let you choose between a 0ne,two and even three column layout,but the Flexx Theme gives you way more options than that.
You can choose columns,rows,bars input widgets and panes from the options panel,and you have an option where you can choose the whole layout of your Theme and keep swopping it around.
Also included in Flexx Theme is a Menu Builder, SEO options, Fading Image Options and Contact page template
There are many options but this Theme is the MAIN reason why my blog looks so cool.
Remember I am just like you I am nothing special I never dreamt I could have my own website looking like this.
HEADER
Now I had my header custom made for me,but get this I was lucky enough to get it for FREE. Why?? because the guy was just starting out and had to build up trust so I was in the right place at the right time.
It looks great I think you would all agree.
I dont know if he is still doing graphics for free think he charges now but go

PLUGINS
So this is just a list of the plugins I use:
Akismet …… This checks for spam comments and you have the option to review them befor approving or not.
All in One SEO Pack ….. Out of the box SEO for your wordpress blog
Google Analyticator ….. Tracks and analyses your traffic very cool tool.
Google XML Sitemaps ….. This plugin will generate a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap of your WordPress blog which is supported by Ask.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO
Sociable ….. Automatically add links on your posts, pages and RSS feed to your favorite social bookmarking sites.
WordPress Database Backup ….. creates backups of your WordPress database
CommentLuv ….. I love commentluv when you leave a post on someones blog it also leaves your url to your latest post for everyone to see great tool.
Popular Posts ….. Displays a list of the most popular posts.
Twitter Widget Pro ….. A widget that properly handles twitter feeds, including @username, #hashtag, and link parsing. It can even display profile images for the users. Requires PHP5.
Top Commentators Widget ….. Adds a sidebar widget to show the top commentators in your WP site. Adapted from Show Top Commentators plugin.
Blogroll Links ….. Displays blogroll links on a blog or page.
I think thats about it for the plugins but there are many plugins maybe you can suggest some for me!
Remember the flexx layout editor is awesome I have mine set out as below,but there are so many ways to have it.
By the way I could not get rid of the dam border around my image, not used paint that much.All I wanted was the image if anyone could enlighten me that would be great cheers.
As for the images im my side bar I have used text widgets this Theme is just so easy it totally transformed my blog.
Then you have my content,I cannot tell you how to do that its down to you. I am not very good at writing at all, I just try and think of something and then off I go.
My grammer,spelling and punctuation are crap but the most important thing is I am being me and I am trying to add value.
You see my friends I have done nothing special at all just picked the right tools for the job.

Hey Marcus
Yep, I did fly in the military. I flew helicopters in Viet Nam for the Army then went to Army Reserves and then to the Air National Guard where I flew F-100′s and F’4′s fighter jets.

I think your blog looks amazing. I tried to find the theme when I started my blog but couldn’t find it. Not sure if I should change now tho. Might look like a big copycat.

Some great tips and advice. The Flexx theme seems to be one of the most poular certainly amongst students and really does make a very professional looking blog. What you can achieve with a little help and advice really is amazing!

Some bloggers like to get creative… but creativity can affect search engine keyword opportunities. The important thing is that readers have a hint of what the post is about.

Great choice of theme… same as mine, i played with a couple of others but settle on this one. Some great info on the plugins you have, ive not installed that many on mine. I’m still a little behind the bulk of the students but catching up slowly. Your doing a fab job.. keep up the good work !!!!!!

Hey Marcus,
Another great post my friend, excellent info once again great list of plugins.
For images I use a screen grab tool I got from Ewan Chia it lets you capture the whole screen or just a section then if I need to edit size or crop it at all I use Infraview(i think its Infraview I’ll check).
No problem with borders then just upload the image. You can get the same type of free tool from

Great Blog and post, loved the simple way your presented the tools and themes. I changed to itheme flexx theme after trying out a few others, this is definitly the best. I also now added google sitemap plugin, just one question how do you get the date to show on your post. Can’t seem to find that.
Great header a real bargin there.

The flexx theme has been purchased with a fine discount and will be put into place very soon. It really is the mutt’s nuts.
As for your question on my blog – I’m a bit intermediate but I’ve never had a blog, never commented on blogs, never used twitter, never been .., nah, forget it.
So I’ve started from scratch with this and have to say that I’m lovin it.
Have a good holiday, chill out (if you can) and then tell us all how the giveaway you’re promoting goes. I’m very keen to get into those soon.

Your exactly right we are nothing special, but if we implement and use the tools our mentors are providing us in exactly the extent to be expected we will reap the rewards.
